Molly Blaauw Gillis

General Catalyst

As a Partner and Chief Communications Officer of the venture capital firm General Catalyst, Molly is responsible for internal and external communications for the firm, including corporate communications and press relations, and brand identity. She takes a leadership role in creating and identifying opportunities to build GC's brand and ecosystem through events, media relations, strategic partnerships, and new initiatives, including the Velocity Network, a program she co-leads, which connects enterprise decision makers with emerging start-ups. Internally, she is focused on establishing a rhythm of purposeful, proactive communications to create awareness around strategy and goals, and increase engagement and collaboration among the full GC team.

She also provides connective tissue across the organization and community through communications and culture-building efforts, including the firm’s racial and social justice Initiatives. Prior to joining General Catalyst, Molly led marketing, PR and internal communications at Leerink Partners, a healthcare investment bank. Previously, she was executive director of development at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where, as part of the development leadership team, she ran operations, board relations, events, annual giving and internal communications. Molly was an early employee of General Catalyst, originally joining the firm just after its founding, to run investor relations, marketing, PR and internal Communications. Molly earned a B.A. in English from Mount Saint Mary’s University and a M.A in publishing at Emerson College.
